GuideThe rehab

A house's story

By Published Updated

Story shows a house in seven chapters: Found it, Got the keys, Demo, Rehab, Finish and stage, On the market, and Sold, Rented, or Kept. Each chapter starts on a date the app takes from the house's record, and every photo lands in the chapter it was taken in. Move a photo when it belongs elsewhere.

Who can use it

The chapters

ChapterStarts
Found itThe day the house was added
Got the keysThe purchase closing date, or the day it moved to an owned stage
DemoThe day the first task started, when the board has demo tasks
RehabWhen demo is done, or the first other task starts, whichever comes first
Finish and stageThe day the house moved to Punch list
On the marketThe day it moved to Listed
Sold, Rented, or KeptThe sale closing date, the first lease's start, or the day it moved to Holding

A task counts as demo when it's on the Trash-out/Demo budget category or its title says demo, demolition, gut, or tear-out. With no demo tasks, Demo says so and the rehab starts with the first task.

A wholesale deal has only Found it and Sold. A rental that was never listed for sale has no On the market chapter.

Dates the app isn't sure of

A date that says Around is a best guess: a task's planned start date rather than the day it really started, or a date from before the app kept a stage history. Date not recorded means the house got there but the record doesn't say when.

When a house goes back a stage, such as a contract falling through, the chapter it's in shows the move. It doesn't start the earlier chapter again.

Photos in the story

Every photo and video from Photos & videos, and the photos on the house's tasks, land in the chapter that had started on the day each was taken. Move-in and move-out photos belong to a lease and stay out of the story.

  1. Step 1: Find the photo in its chapter.
  2. Step 2: Open its options (the three dots beside its date) and pick the chapter under Move to chapter.
  3. Step 3: To hand it back to its date, open its options again and choose Put back by its date.

Each photo shows its walkthrough area's name when it has one, such as "Hall bath", and its caption.

A photo with no date of its own, such as a screenshot, is placed by the day it was uploaded and says to check its chapter.

Moving a photo changes only its chapter. Its stage, room, date, and caption stay as they are.

TipUse the shot list to make sure every chapter has the pictures it needs.
