GuideThe rehab
Permits and inspections
Keep your own record of each permit: what's needed, what's been issued, and how the inspection went.
- Where it is
- A house › Rehab › Permits
- Who can use it
- Owners, admins, and team members on the house
Permits is your record, not the county's. It tells you at a glance which permits a house needs, which are in hand, and which inspections have passed.
Add a permit
- Step 1: Open Permits under Rehab and choose Add permit.
- Step 2: Pick the Jurisdiction. Choose Other and type its name if it isn't listed.
- Step 3: Type the Permit type, such as “Residential alteration” or “Electrical.”
- Step 4: Choose Save.
Keep it current
Choose Edit as things happen:
| When | Set |
|---|---|
| You apply | Status to Applied, and Applied on |
| It's issued | Status to Issued, with the Number and Issued on |
| The inspection is booked | Status to Inspection |
| The inspector has been | Inspection result to Pass or Fail, and the Inspector's name |
| It's finished | Status to Closed |
Attach the permit card or the inspection report under Document, then Save.
- Fee is a note. Log the payment as an expense so it counts.
- A permit holds one inspection result. For several inspections, add each as its own permit, or keep the history in Notes.
- Nothing changes by itself. A permit won't mark itself expired.
- To put an inspection on the calendar, add an event.
The county checklist
Add the county checklist adds the usual starting set in one go: a residential alteration permit, trade permits, and a zoning check, plus an asbestos line for a house built before 1985.
Heads upThe built-in jurisdictions, county links, and checklist are for Hanover County and the Town of Ashland, Virginia. Anywhere else, use Other for the jurisdiction and add your own permits.
