Receipts and receipt reading

Attach a photo of every receipt, let the app read it for you, and see which expenses are still missing one.

Attach a receipt

In Add expense, tap Take photo to use the camera or Choose file to pick a photo or PDF. The expense saves first and the receipt uploads after it, so a weak signal never costs you the entry.

  • Receipts can be JPEG, PNG, WebP, or PDF, up to 10 MB.
  • HEIC photos are refused. If your iPhone saves HEIC, set its camera to “Most Compatible” in Settings, or choose a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or PDF.
  • If the upload fails, the row shows Receipt missing · Retry. Tap it and choose the file again.

Turn on receipt reading

Receipt reading fills in the expense from the photo. It runs on your own Anthropic account, which bills you directly, usually a cent or two per receipt.

  1. Step 1: Create an API key at console.anthropic.com.
  2. Step 2: In the app, open the account menu and choose Receipt reading.
  3. Step 3: Paste the key into Anthropic API key and choose Save key.

The key is checked before it's saved, stored encrypted, and never shown again. It turns reading on for everyone in the workspace who can attach receipts. Remove key turns it off.

See what's missing

  1. Step 1: Open Expenses and switch Show from List to Receipts.
  2. Step 2: Read the line at the top, such as “9 of 10 posted expenses have a receipt.”
  3. Step 3: Under Missing a receipt, choose Add receipt on a row and pick the file.

Below that is a gallery of every receipt on the house. This is the pile your CPA asks for at closing.

A stack of receipts at once

More › Attach receipts takes up to 20 files and makes one expense per file. You type the Amount and pick the Category for each. This screen doesn't read the receipts for you, even when receipt reading is on.
